Valborg

Yesterday it was Valborg, a celebration of the springs arrival! So everywhere in Sweden fires were burning, songs were sung and people got wasted. Lovely tradition.

Nothing

This weekend I have done absolutely nothing. Besides getting a tan, listening to the ocean, barbecue and drinking wine. Doing nothing is clearly underrated!

Loony's review

Ok, so lets do three quick ones!

The Woman In Black

The Plot: Evil Ghost Woman makes kids in the village kill themselves whenever someone has seen her ghosting around. So Harry Potter (yes, it really is), stuck in the house where she hangs around, tries to figure out what she wants, while she keeps scaring him half to death!

It might not sound like much, but I actually liked it!! Daniel Radcliffe is good as the single dad trying to figure out what the heck is going on, and even though the story could have been tied together better, it'll do for a horror film! The ghost is the perfect amount of scary and the only thing that ruins it is the fact that she screams, which makes it a little bit ridiculous. And also the whole diving-into-the-marshes-to-find-what-noone-has-found-before seemed a bit stupid, but other than that it was ok!
Def worth seeing!

Perfect Sence

The Plot: Scientist girl falls in love with chef while an epedemic rob people of their senses one by one.

Generally not my type of movie, but I actually really liked it! I have never really been a fan of Ewan McGregor but I'm finding myself liking him more and more (the fizzywater burp he did during an interview might have something to do with it). I'm still on the fence about Eva Green, especially since she is doing that horrid vampire movie with Johnny Depp, but in this movie I like her.
A different take on life, and really a sad story.
Worth seeing. Yes.

The Hunger Games

The Plot: As part of a very nifty punishment for a past uprising teenagers from every district has to do their best to kill each other in the annual televised Hungergames! Katniss takes her younger sisters place and learns to put on a show and stay alive!

So, I had really high expectations as everyone says this is THE best film ever, and I just didn't think it was. Nothing wrong with Jennifer Lawrence, but I would have liked her character better if she would have been...  A bit more awesome, you know! Stanley Tucci is an old favourite of mine, and he is fantastic in that blue hair! Josh Hutcherson was an escellent surprise, and I look forward to seeing him in future movies! Maybe it was just the fact that he was also in the movie, but Josh somehow reminded me of Woody Harrelson!
It's still a good movie and I might even see it one more time, but I think it's better if you keep the expectations low so you don't get dissapointed. Like I did with John Carter! Reeeaaally low expectations means it really wans't that bad! :)
Of course worth seeing.

Refresher

I  just got word, the school will let me take the required first class in Marketing as a "refresher" which means I can take other marketing classes at the same time! Yaaay!!! This was one of my fears, that I would have to take the first class during the first semester and have to wait to the second semester for all the other classes!
So, check!! :)

Done

Yesterday I gave my job my three months notice!
I feel really good about it! :) Initially I wanted I leave of absence, but once they denied that and I had let it sink in, I'm ok with it. It's scary of course, to not have the backup if something happends. But now I'm free to stay after a year if I feel like it. Either way, I need a change and they need someone content with what they offer. There are no hard feelings, and this employer has by far been the best one in my career. Great people, really down to earth. I'm going to miss them all.
But I'm going to gain a whole lot of other stuff.

:)

Lake Mead

I just got invited to a boatparty on Lake Mead in Vegas in May! Man, I really want to go, last year was such a great time! But I guess it would be hard to top that anyways, and I'm sure I'll have lots of other fun stuff come my way soon enough... :)

Some pics from last year...

Loony´s review

Sherlock Holmes - A game of shadows

The Plot: Once again the very A.D.D. Sherlock Holmes fights crime with his ever so patient Doctor Watson. Or not so patient. But having had his wife thrown off a train into a river by Holmes, he is happy to oblige. Apparently. So they set of to stop the evil Moriarty, who has no better reason for destroying the world than money. Surprise!

Well, as you can see, I found the story a bit thin. As in, a lot of effects all over the place, so much that it's hard to actually see the story somewhere in there! Kudos to Guy Ritche, a couple of times there I got a "Snatch" feeling, but this is Sherlock Holmes, so no. A Sherlock that is a psychic McGyver when it comes to fights, which in the end just gets ridiculous when he apparently meets his match!
As the lovely leading lady from the first movie is (spoiler) killed right at the beginning they threw in another able woman, the Swedish Noomi Rapace! She was awesome in the Swedish trilogy of The girl with the dragon tattoo, and she did fine in this
. I wouldn't say she was great, it just didn't seem like she took to the challange. Besides from working with Robert Downey Junior, of course. :)
Anyways. I said as the movie started that I missed the old Sherlock Holmes. Who solved petty murders with heavy pondering and sitting in his chambers smoking his pipe. World domination was never really on his plate, so I'm not really liking it. The second time either. To much, to fast.

Calm

After a couple of months feeling slightly bipolar, I'm getting back to my old self again.
Turns out I'm an emotional person after all! ;) Which is of course a good thing, but lately I've been so tightly wound you could have played me like a balalaika!
Not anymore though! I am now back to my "Mother Theresa" state of mind, haha. At least for today!

Since my job wouldn't give me a leave of absence I have to make a decision by friday next week if I want to give notice and quit, or stay put and not go to the US.
Of course I have already made up my mind.

Loony´s review

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

The Plot: So here we go again! Crazy evil bad guy wants world domination, and it’s Ethan Hunt to the rescue.
This time it’s a crazy Swede (??) who wants to blow up the world, so that the survivors can create a… well, supposedly better world afterwards. Them criminals are really clever…
Anyways, Mr Cruise and his team, hot black chick, dorky red haired dude and bruiting sensitive hottie, is of course the world’s only hope. The MI director gets his head blown off in front of Tommyboy right after having explained that the president has invoked “Ghost Protocol”, which basically means that no one will admit that they exist, so they are all pretty much in the crapper.
So, Tom does what he does best! He runs, jumps, climbs, fight and blows stuff up, and what do you know!! The world is saved!! And I don’t consider that to be a spoiler on my part, the world is always saved in Mission Impossible.

Tom Cruise will always be Tom Cruise but the whole action deal is getting really old! He should do like a hardcore drama or something, we’re sick of the 4 foot action dork. The hot black chick who I thought was Alicia Keyes, is played by her lookalike Paula Patton and was in my opinion lot better in "Precious. She is just too much of a cutie for this, even if she does throw a mean punch. And the red haired dork? The fantastic Simon Pegg, who has absolutely no business in an MI movie!! I’m sure he will be absolutely brilliant in his upcoming movie “A Fantastic Fear of Everything” and I love him in “Shawn of the Dead” but he is NOT an MI agent.
Jeremy Renner, bruiting hottie, does his job, no complaints there, but that’s about it. Kind of fun to see Josh Holloway make an appearance, and It’s nice to know he’s not still Lost on that Island. With long hair.

So, Iv’e seen the movie twice, and no it didn’t get better the second time. I think the problem lies not only in that we’ve seen it all before, but also we don’t really get to know the characters, especially the bad guy! Usually there’s an unravelling backstory and you get to know him up close and really get a sense of how awful and evil he is. Here Michael Nyquist flashes by in the beginning and doesn’t really turn up again until right at the end when he and Tommyboy are throwing cars at each other. And that whole Ghost Protocol thing, its mentioned in the beginning but then the movie feels like nothing’s really changed, so what was the point of that? Except finding a cool name for the movie. There’s no feeling in whole thing. The only time it had feeling was when Tom is climbing the outside of a veeeryyyy high building. But I think that was mainly fear of heights on my part.

Worth seeing? I had to see it twice to even remember what it was about, so you tell me.

Snake

I'm not much for celebrities, but when you meet a famous snake in your elevator it's worth a picture!
Meet Snoddas! He apparently had some business in our building.
A friend asked if I was sure it was a snake and not just one of the lawyers from the 8th floor. Hard to tell...

Flea market

So, yesterday was spent at a flea market selling all my stuff! As you can see I was very, very excited... ;)

We actually got rid of most of the stuff, and even though we def didn't make a fortune, it felt better knowing someone would use it instead of just throwing it away! In fact, once the good stuff had been sold and we felt like it was time to wrap things up, we put up a sign on the table that it was all free! That got them running!!

Student loan

I got word yesterday, my student loan came through!! Yaaaay!
Not that there was ever a reason why it wouldn't, but still nice to have it confirmed!
Next up - Visa!!

Loony´s review

I'm not feeling 100% today, so I'm working from home, snuggled up on the couch in my OnePiece! Don't worry, I got one so ugly I would never dream of showing it!

Anyways, since I'm home I thought I might give the whole "Average Joe"-review thing a go in English! It was fun in Swedish, so let's see how this works out!

Battleship

The Plot: Hot screwup Alex Hopper gets inlisted into the Navy by equally hot big brother, and when big brother gets blown up by Aliens (that we apparently called) hottie hothead screw up is all of a sudden the navy's, and the worlds, only hope. Of course the Aliens brought some mean guns so our little boats can't put up much of a fight! Thankfully the crazy hothead is in charge cause then anything is apparently possible! The aliens, frog eyed, hedgehog bearded uglies, may have brought big guns, but with the help of some veterans and a very very old battleship all the aliens go boom.

Alrighty! After seeing Taylor Kitsch in Wolverine I have been waiting for him to turn up again, and he sure did! First as John Carter and now Alex Hopper! His part in Battleship is extremely annoying and he's pretty good at that. He is accompanied by Rihanna and Swedish cutie pie Alexander Skarsgård. Who by the way played a real asshole in Strawdogs not long ago, so right now we no like him :) And the rest of the movie? Well, the story is not half bad, cool effects and some not to bad acting. But its to much. And I would have liked to know more about the aliens! All we got o know now was that they were ugly, had cool guns and weird hands.
Worth seeing? I'd say yes, but I had really low expectations, so that should be taken in to account.

Charlie D

I've gone to my home town Vimmerby for Easter, to hang out with friends and family! I spent yesterday at the Dickinson house and hung out with the cutest boy in town! Not only does he flirt a lot, he also wants kisses and cuddles. And who am I to say no that! :)

Puddle

So, it turns out the partners of the firm I work at was not as enthusiastic about me going on a leave of absence as my boss. Not at all. They have retained legal council on the matter.
So, there will be no leave of absence.

I love my job and have had such a great relationship with all of them, so of course I'm very disappointed. But as it says above, every path has its puddle, so I guess wet feet is to be expected on any journey.

Nudge

"Nothing worth anything comes easy"
Oh how true!

As I started thinking about this trip I made plans how to get everything in place so that I could go. But in one area my plans kept falling through. So I'd rethink, make new plans and be happy for a while, and then it would happend again. Not to the point where it was ever an actual threat to my trip, but enough to make me worry about it. Worry a lot!

But today I got a welcome nudge in the right direction in that certain area! I was so happy I almost cried! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

One step at the time... :)

LA

If I was a webpage, in August I would change my domain to .LA :)

Yes, I'M MOVING TO LOS ANGELES!!! Yaaay!!

Today I dropped the bomb on my boss that I have decided to study for a year, and wanted a leave of absence! He took it really well and actually seemed happy for me, so let's just hope the partners are ok with it too.

One step at a time.... :)

Delay

So, there has been a slight delay on the announcement, but hopefully tomorrow!
As patience is one of the virtues I do not possess (ask anyone) this is a perfect oportunity to practice it, and considering that all will be revealed eventually no matter what, I can live with that!

Waffle day

We have a day for most everything tasty in Sweden, cinnamon rolls, semlor, and today it's waffle day! So today the diet has consisted of nothing but waffles, except for the breakfast sandwich. Waffles with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, syrup and even toffee!

And so what do we get?
A serious waffle coma!! :)

Horder

Soooo, I have started cleaning out stuff to sell at the flea market in a couple of weeks, and so far I have gone through the kitchen.
I have a sneaking suspicion I might be a closet-horder! :)

Preparations

Soon I can make it official. The thing that I can't make official right now.
I still have to hold my tounge for a couple of more days, but I have lots of preparations underway. As you can see the header of the blog has changed, and the layout plus switching to English makes it kind of easy to guess what the big revelation might be :)
For now, I'm just going to post a picture of the painting that finally inspired me to get off my butt and do something real with my life, not just watch it pass by. It hangs in my bedroom, reminding me to think forward.

Loony Recenserar

Immortals
The Plot:

Mickey Rourke! I'm sorry, men han i den här typen av roll don't tickle me at all!

Loony Recenserar

Underworld, Awakening
The Plot:

Småläskig här och där, that's it!

Loony Recenserar

I det här fallet heter filmen "The Help".

The Plot: Snygging kör bil. Han kör mycket bil. Han säger väldigt lite. Han träffar en tjejj. Han hamnar i trubbel. He goes mental. The End.

Eeeeeh, WHAT!?!? Men icke!!

The Thing 2011
The Plot:

Men my LORD!! It’s all been done!
